A trip on Flaggruten allows you to experience Norway's glorious fjords and coastline ' all in one day!
Twenty-five minutes after leaving Bergen, Flaggruten makes its first call - at Flesland, before continuing to Leirvik, with one of Norway's biggest construction yards for oil platforms.
The next stop is at Mosterhamn, where Olav Tryggvason came ashore in 995 to become king and bring Christianity to Norway. Moster old church, built between 995 and 1010, is one of the oldest churches in Norway.
After Mosterhamn we cross the open stretch of sea Sletta, passing the Ryvarden lighthouse on course for Haugesund. This charming North Sea town is famous for its international film festival and for its annual trad-jazz festival - «Sildajazz». On the outskirts of Haugesund is Haraldshaugen, where Harald Fairhair was buried. You will get a good view of the 17-metres tall memorial from Flaggruten.
After Haugesund the journey continues south along the Karmsund sound. We pass St Olav's church at Avaldsnes, built by Håkon Håkonsson around 1250.
After calling at Kopervik we are on course for Ryfylke, and after crossing the Boknafjord we arrive in Stavanger, the oil capital of Norway. The city has a number of attractions, including Old Stavanger, the Stavanger Museum and the Cathedral. From Stavanger you can go on a mini-cruise to Lysefjorden before returning by Flaggruten in the late afternoon. From Lysefjorden you can view the Pulpit Rock, 600 metres above the fjord, and the 1000-metre high, perpendicular Kjerag wall. Further information on request.
